Giant pineapples amongst items stolen in district garden thefts
Police are asking residents in Sherburn and the surrounding villages to keep their eyes peeled after a spate of garden thefts.

Responding to an increase in thefts from gardens in the area over the past few days, police have urged residents to be on the look out for suspicious behaviour and vehicles.
Thefts reported include two large stone pineapples from Monk Fryston, a barbecue taken from the front garden of a property in South Milford and two stone troughs full of flowers that went missing from outside a property in Lumby.
Police Community Support Officer Dion Wood of Sherburn Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “We are urging residents to be on their guard and report any suspicious behaviour, people or vehicles to us.
“Please don’t think your call is trivial as even the smallest piece of information can help our investigations or prevent a crime in the first place. Descriptions of suspicious people and the registration numbers of vehicles are extremely useful.”
Anyone who has any information about the thefts or who wants to reports suspicious activity to the police should contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 1 and pass information to the Force Control Room.
