£2k benefit fraud lands former Selby woman in court
A former Selby resident has admitted to fraudulently claiming more than £2,000 in benefits she wasn’t entitled to.

31-year-old Rebecca Snow was handed a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay costs of £200 when she was sentenced at York Magistrates Court yesterday.
She pleaded guilty to charges that she failed to notify Selby District Council of a change in her personal circumstances with a view to obtaining benefits.
After a full investigation by the Council’s Counter Fraud Unit, it was found that she had failed to declare that she was no longer in receipt of Job Seekers Allowance. This resulted in a Housing Benefit overpayment of £1,792 and a Council Tax Benefit overpayment of £375.76.
The offences occurred whilst Snow was living at Ousegate Lodge, Selby. She has since moved to Brighouse in West Yorkshire.
