Disruption as caravan becomes trapped on Thorpe level crossing

Commuters are facing rush-hour disruption this evening after a vehicle became stuck on a level crossing near Selby.

The incident occurred at a level crossing on Dam Lane in Thorpe Willoughby at around 4:20 pm this evening and involved a car towing a caravan.

Eyewitnesses have described how the vehicle is believed to have become stuck when the crossing's barrier came down between the car and the caravan.

The crossing has since re-opened, but some delays to road rail services are expected to persist whilst incident responders from Network Rail work to repair the damage.
