A19 re-opens after serious crash

A man has suffered serious injuries following a crash on a major route into Selby.

The collision, involving three cars and a lorry, took place on the A19 near Escrick just after 4 o'clock this evening.

One man, understood to have been driving one of the involved cars, was taken to York District Hospital suffering from injuries described by police as 'serious'. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Others who were involved in the crash were treated at the scene.

The road was closed for several hours in the immediate aftermath of the incident. It re-opened shortly before 7 o'clock this evening.
