Man charged following Sherburn 'child abduction' attempt
Police investigating allegations of attempted child abduction in Sherburn have charged a man in relation to the incident.

Charges of child abduction have been filed against a 46 year-old Leeds man earlier this afternoon following the initial arrest, made on Saturday.
The arrest and subsequent charges come after a young girl was grabbed by her arm by an individual she walked behind her mother on Wolsey Croft, Sherburn in broad daylight last Thursday lunchtime. The girl was not harmed during the ordeal and was safely returned to her mother.
Detective Constable Kendra Wedgwood of Selby CID, said, “I would like to thank the local community for their response to this incident and the assistance they have given to the police.”
The charged man will appear before York Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.
