Tenants feeling the heat with new gas heating upgrade

More than 50 families in the district are enjoying the benefits of brand new gas central heating systems installed in Council properties in Brayton and Kellington.
In a partnership between Selby District Council, Northern Gas Networks and Community Energy Solutions properties in St Wilfrid’s Court, Brayton have had new efficient gas condensing combi boilers fitted, along with new radiators to provide whole-house central heating.
The homes were previously heated using electric storage heaters. The new gas central heating will improve the energy efficiency of the bungalows in the street and help reduce residents’heating costs.
Selby District Council and our partners have been working together to bring gas to Manor Garth in Kellington where 34 properties saw gas connections installed to their properties – 33 council homes and one private property that benefitted from the boost to the gas infrastructure in their street.
Northern Gas Networks provided £71,450 of funding for the gas infrastructure work as part of their on-going programme to tackle fuel poverty.
Cllr Dave Peart, Member of the Executive and Lead Councillor for Housing, Leisure, Health and Culture, commented, “By working together with Northern Gas Networks and Community Energy Solutions, Selby District Council has been able to deliver modern, efficient heating systems in homes across the district. As we approach the colder weather, these tenants will be able to enjoy energy efficient heating for the first time.”
