Major town centre thoroughfare closed to traffic while crossing installed
Car users have been told to expect delays whilst travelling through town whilst a pedestrian crossing is being installed on a key town centre route.

Scott Road will be likely be closed to vehicles up until December 5th when contractors from North Yorkshire County Council are due to have completed their works.
Safety campaigners had been calling for the installation of a new crossing on the busy thoroughfare for years, but it wasn't until a protest brought traffic to standstill before Highways bosses speeded up its delivery.
Through traffic will be unable to use road whilst works take place. Access to homes on Scott Road, Richard Street, Scott Road Medical Centre and the Community Centre will still be available however.
