Tadcaster to host Triathlon open night

The launch night will take place on Wednesday, February 26th from 7:30pm at the pool where representatives from Triathlon England will be on hand to answer any questions. Those behind the event to steer the development of a future club in the area.

Attendees to the open evening will be taken through the exact formula for Triathlon training and a proposed format for a club will be set our. The club would welcome all abilities with previous experience of competing is not required.

Representatives of Paul Drinkwater company, who organises the Tadcaster Triathlon is also hopeful of attending along with Cyclesense who will display a selection of equipment for participants interested in joining the club. Their will also be information on frequently asked questioned associated with taking part in a triathlon to ease any nerves of new participants want to experience their first triathlon as well as learning from more experienced athletes. Furthermore, a committee member on the Yorkshire and Humber Triathlon association will also be in attendance.

Following the open night the regular Adult lane swimming at the pool will be available from 8.30pm with a discounted rate being applied to anyone attends the launch night.

The club is keen to establish a good working relationship with the other each of the three disciplines with local cycling, running and swimming clubs all welcome to attend.

Leisure provider WLCT's Adam Prentis said, ‘Not only are we looking to encourage participants to the launch night, we are also looking for volunteers to help assist the functioning of the club as well as forming a committee to make decisions about the future of the club. Everyone is welcome from beginners to more established Triathletes. We want to create a network of those enthusiastic about triathlons in our District. We have set about trying to gauge the level of interest in establishing a new club to the area and the very early signs look promising.’
