Two arrests after further late-night car break-ins

Two men remain in police custody after being arrested in relation to an alleged theft from a motor vehicle in the early hours of this morning.

Police swooped on Barlby Road just after 3 am when a resident reported his car had been broken into.

Officers attended the location immediately, and within 30 minutes two men had been apprehended in a nearby street. A rucksack containing tools was also recovered and seized by police.

The men, aged 22 and 25, were arrested on suspicion of theft from a motor vehicle and going equipped to steal. Both remain in custody at this time.

North Yorkshire Police had warned motorists to be on the look-out for suspicious activity after a spate of incidents in the town over the last few days. The investigation into these incidents is ongoing.
