Firefighters called to unattended garden waste fire

Firefighters  have been called out to deal with a large pile of rubbish left to burn unsupervised in Tadcaster. 

North Yorks Fire Service were called to the blaze just after 1pm this lunchtime. On arrival they found garden rubbish and trees on fire over an area measuring around 5 x 4 metres.

Despite recent pleas for citizens to take care not to take unnecessary risks with fire, as crews across the country battled unprecedented wildfire events, the fire was unattended.

Crews used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire and dampened down the area.
