News of a potential new store on Selby's high street.
Selby
A national home furnishings retailer could be coming to town after making a move towards a prime spot on Selby's high street.
Ponden Home Interiors is understood to be considering opening an outlet at 28 Gowthorpe – an address known to most Selebians as the Whiskers' building. Planning applications for signage and alterations to the building are currently with district planners.
The 150-store chain sells a wide range of home furnishing products including bedding, curtains, throws, cushions and storage solutions.
Now owned by parent company Edinburgh Woolen Mills, Ponden Home Interiors was formed from of the ashes of retailers Rosebys and Ponden Mill, both of whom collapsed at the start of the world financial crisis in 2007 and 2008.
The firm confirmed their interest in Selby but said it was too early to drawn on a particular site or timescale.
