A new video animation has been produced to promote all that Selby has to offer to the world of business and drive inward investment.
The animation was commissioned by Selby District Council in a bid to build a strong brand for the district and showcase the unique selling points that could help persuade businesses to invest in our area.
The idea stemmed from a Business Breakfast summit held at Drax Power Station in February, where the Council invited influential leaders from business, public relations and the public sector to get together to look at ways of working together to support growth for the district.
Amongst the items agreed by the group was that Selby needed to find a stronger voice for itself and be more focused on lobbying and talking to the right people to help promote and attract investment opportunities in Selby. Recognition of Selby's unique selling points and building a stronger brand for Selby was also seen as a key to persuading kick-starting growth in our district's economy.
The Council tells us that the choice to present its new message through an online animated video was because it would enable it to shared easily through the use of social media, embedded into websites and sent by email. This, it hopes, will enable the Council to get 'more bang for its buck' as it tries to get its message out there faster and further in the most cost effective way.
Mike James, head of communications for the Council told Selby Online, “Across the district, businesses and the public sector have been working together to understand and promote what we have to offer new investors. The Selby district is uniquely placed to benefit from great transport connections, with significant new business space coming onto the market, and at the heart of investment in key industries such as the energy sector. We think our area also supports recruitment and retention of good staff too, because of the quality of our schools, our housing and access to leisure.
“This film is part of a much wider agenda of working together with business across the district to support growth and investment. It’s a very practical action that the Council has facilitated in partnership with business to promote the area. And by doing this together we’ve managed to maximise the reach of the film whilst minimising the cost of doing this.”
The cost of producing the animation was £2,280, with all organisations involved in the development having agreed to share it through their existing networks, contacts and client bases. This, they believe, means that the actual cost of marketing the video will be nil.
