Selby man arrested as pensioner seriously injured in Garforth bus stop crash

A 56-year-old man from the Selby area has been arrested after a pensioner was seriously injured in a collision with a car in Garforth.
The 82-year-old woman had been waiting at a bus stop on the A63 Selby Road at Cliff Top, Garforth, at 8:35am on Saturday morning when a red Volkswagen Polo left the road and struck the bus shelter she was waiting in.
She sustained serious injuries during the incident and was taken to Leeds General Infirmary where she remains in a critical condition.
The driver of the Polo was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and was later bailed pending further enquiries.
Investigating officers from West Yorkshire Police have have urged anyone who witnessed the incident or the circumstances leading up to it is asked to contact PC 6663 Ryan Burt at Carr Gate via 101 quoting log number 439 of October 17.
