Selby Online returns to web after technical failure
Selby Online returned to browsers across the district last night after technical problems forced the website down for several days.

The website’s servers suffered technical problems with an upgrade whilst undergoing scheduled maintenance on Saturday, October 19th. This in itself would not usually have caused to many problems as Selby Online service is backed up to ensure data safety.
But in an unfortunate coincidence the website’s back-up hard disks suffered mechanical failure taking the site offline for an extended time whilst the site could be rebuilt.
Content Editor, Liam Heppell, said, “We try really hard to plan ahead to make sure that when things go wrong we can be back up and running quickly.
“Once Plan A had failed we went to Plan B expecting to be back online within an hour or so.
“We came up against some pretty bad luck but we have worked hard and we're now back.
“Of course we are very sorry to the thousands of readers who log on to Selby Online every month”
Whilst the website is not yet back to its full compliment of local content, it is hoped that all the missing pages can be returned within the next week.
The website says it has now added a Plan C to its continuity plans to ensure there will be no repeat.
