Selby jogger requires surgery after vicious dog attack
A jogger has needed urgent surgery after he was attacked by a dog whilst out running near Selby.

The 47-year-old victim was bitten by an Alsation dog as he ran alongside the Selby Canal, between Selby and Brayton. It occurred at sometime between 6:15am and 6:30am on Monday, October 27th.
He was taken to York Hospital where his injuries were considered so serious that he would need urgent surgery. At this time it is understood that the victim remains in hospital as he recovers from his ordeal.
The dog’s owner was present at the time of the attack and remained at the scene to offer first aid to the victim.
North Yorkshire Police are now conducting enquiries as they try to piece together the full circumstances that lead to the incident. In particular they are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or has suffered or witnessed similar incidents of this nature to come forward.
