A Police helicopter searching for a missing elderly woman above Selby has been potentially put a risk tonight by a six year old child with a laser pen.

Police said the National Police Air Service chopper was in the skies above Selby to help in the Search for a missing 89-year-old woman, described by officers as vulnerable.

But the helicopter’s mission was jeopardised after it was targeted by somebody with a nuisance laser pointing device.

Subsequent investigations discovered the likely source of the beam – a six year old child with a dangerous toy!

Thankfully the missing woman was found safe and well a short time ago after she was spotted by an eagle-eyed member of the Police’s facebok following who had seen their appeal
