Businesses wanted to get involved in Selby's Tour Festival

Opportunities are opening up for Selby area businesses to benefit from the Tour de Yorkshire.

Businesses wanted to get involved in Selby's Tour Festival

The tour, which pedals into town on May 2nd, will be complemented by a special Selby Cycle Festival, running through the weekend. The festival will be a family-friendly event full of activities in three key locations throughout the town.

The number of visitors in the town over the Tour de Yorkshire weekend is expected to be high. This is especially so since last weeks announcement the the race is to be contested by some of the sports biggest hitters – including Sir Bradley Wiggins.

Organisers are now looking for local firms to partner with the festival through various sponsorship packages, each of which offers different levels of support and advertising linked to different elements of the festival.  There’s also a chance for retailers to apply for stalls at the festival.

Leader of Selby District Council, Cllr Mark Crane, said, “Last week we hosted a special event to help businesses find out more about the race and the opportunities this brings.  It was great to see that people were thinking about what they could do for their own business to make the most of this unique chance.

“Being part of the very first Tour de Yorkshire is very special.  We’ve got some really high profile riders lined up and as they complete their ‘figure of eight’ circuit around the town we’re one of the only places on the route where you’ll be able to see them go by twice.  That helps to make Selby a great place to watch the race and we want to help businesses to make the most of this.”

If you are interested in sponsoring the festival or would like to enquire into the availability of having a stall at the festival please complete the stall holder enquiry form which can be found on the Selby District Council, Selby Cycle Festival webpage.   Please complete the enquiry form and return to Selby District Council via email to cyclefest@selby.gov.uk  .
