Selby College Lecturer to judge national award
A Selby College Lecturer who was part of a team which won a national teaching award is elated after being asked to be a judge for the prestigious awards next year.

Sam Grimmer, Lecturer and Manager of the college’s Training Restaurant, is part of the Hospitality and Catering Team who beat off thousands of entries to be named ‘Further Education Team of the Year’ at the Pearson Teaching Awards in October.
In a further boost to the college, the awards organisers have this week asked Sam, who lives in Howden, to be a judge for the televised 2015 Teaching Awards.
As part of her role, Sam will travel across the UK to visit nominated teams, and assess which should be awarded Silver and ultimately Gold, whilst representing the Teaching Awards.
It is an experience she knows only too well, after going through the process this year as a nominee and eventually becoming victorious in being named one of only 12 Gold Award winners at a prestigious ceremony at London’s Guildhall on 26th October.
Sam said, “Our team thoroughly enjoyed being nominated and category winner of the Pearson Teaching Awards and it is fantastic to think that I can now re-live the experience all over again. I am ecstatic to be part of the judging team for the 2015 awards and am looking forward to visiting other schools and colleges across the country. Thank you to the Teaching Award for this great opportunity.”
