Cyclist dies following Eggborough HGV crash

A cyclist seriously injured in a crash with a heavy goods lorry on a roundabout on the A19 south of Eggborough has died.

The collision occurred at around 8:45 on saturday morning when the 49-year-old local man was seriously injured, requiring an immediate airlift to Leeds General Infirmary. Sadly the cyclist has since died of his injuries.

Police are asking for anybody who witnessed the crash to contact them immediately.

The heavy goods vehicle involved is described as having a white cab and a white and blue trailer. The occupant of the HGV was not injured during the collision.

Traffic Sergeant Neale Rees, of the Force’s Roads Policing Group, said: “If you witnessed the collision or saw either of the vehicles involved just prior to the incident, I urge you to come forward and contact the police straight away.”
