New opportunities for Selby business to access expert advice and support

A series of events have been planned to help small local businesses prosper in the Selby area.

New opportunities for Selby business to access expert advice and support

The events are part of a long-term programme of support facilitated by Selby District Council and its partners. The programme's aim is to give companies access to all the information they need to develop, expand and become a successful part of Selby's business community.

First on the list is the monthly Enterprise Café session, taking place on Monday, February 23rd, at Selby's Community House. Led by Business Support York and North Yorkshire, this free session will provide advice on growth and business expansion from Barclays' local business relationship manager.

On Monday, March 2nd, marketing experts will be hosting a free event focusing on helping companies understand how marketing can support their ambitions of growth.  This session, at Selby Civic Centre, will cover key issues such as how to reach customers and prospects, making the most of social media, developing new ideas for business and easier ways to grow your business.

Finally, on Tuesday 3 March, Business Support York, North Yorkshire and the Local Enterprise Partnership are hosting a free ‘Popup business advice café’ at Community House.  Experts from the local area will be available between 8:30 and 12:30 to answer questions and give free advice on a range of key issues such as finding new customers, taking on staff, starting and growing a business.

Leader of Selby District Council, Cllr Mark Crane, added his support to the sessions, “Over recent months the Council has been actively working with a range of other people to see what help can be made available in our district for small businesses.  Small businesses have a good success rate here and we want to build further on this by giving people access to key support and advice.

“We know the demand is there, and that supporting our businesses is a key issue for the district.  These sessions are free to attend, and I hope companies can take advantage of the support that’s available.”
