Driver arrested as car ploughs into Selby house

A driver has been arrested after a Selby home was hit by a car early on yesterday morning.

The property, at the corner of Portholme Road and Portholme Drive, was significantly damaged during the collision. Supports have since been installed to prevent any further collapse.

A twitter account belonging to North Yorkshire Police tweeted that the driver had allegedly fled the scene, but was arrested a short time later. It is understood that they are being held on suspicion of drink driving.

Nobody was injured during the crash but the road had to be closed for several hours during the morning whilst the building was made safe.
