Flaxley Road burglary prompts home security reminder
Police in Selby are urging residents to ensure the security of their homes following a burglary at a property in the Flaxley Road area of town.

Thieves made off with an amount of cash after making an 'untidy search' of the bungalow between 4:40am and 2:40pm yesterday. The perpetrators gained entry to the home by forcing open patio doors at the rear of the property.
Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity taking place in the vicinity of the home which is situated on the road leading out towards Selby Common.

Police have meanwhile provided advice of several simple security measures that can help deter thieves from targeting your property.
Measures include always ensuring windows and doors on your house, garage, sheds and outbuildings are kept secured and locked during all hours of the day and night. If you have a house alarm, you should remember to use it.
If there is a vehicle in your garage or on your drive, you are advised to make sure it is locked and that its alarm set. Make sure the keys to the vehicle are secure within your home. If in doubt take them to bed with you.
