Radio York scouring the area for broadcast apprentice
Local radio station BBC Radio York is scouring the area in search of its own apprentice.

The station is looking for a non-graduate, over the age of 18, to take part in its apprentice scheme, gaining a valuable first step towards a career in broadcasting.
A 15 month paid stint as a Broadcasting Assistant across Radio York programmes and news output is up for grabs for the successful applicant, to be based in the station's York HQ.
The winning apprentice will also earn a Level 3 qualification in Journalism certified by the National Council for the Training of Journalists (NCTJ) and have the chance to apply for Broadcast Assistant jobs in the BBC.
The scheme was announced by BBC Director General, Tony Hall, saying: "I want to build a ladder of opportunity for the talented. I want to open up the BBC to more people - to people from every part of the country - to people from a greater variety of backgrounds."
Deputy Editor of BBC Radio York, Matt Foster, added: “One of the things I love about working at BBC Radio York is the constant variety – you just can’t predict what each day will bring. As a BBC Radio York apprentice you could find yourself helping to research and set up items on a breakfast programme, out-and-about gathering stories in North Yorkshire or coming-up with some great ideas for a show.”
We are offering one fixed term contracts for 15 months, after which you’ll be really well placed to compete for jobs at the BBC, or in the wider industry. The combination of practical work experience and skills will make you a great candidate.
