Man dies after being hit by train near Hambleton

A man has died after he was hit by a train near Selby, British Transport Police has confirmed.

Emergency services were called to Hambleton North junction just after 9:30 pm last night.

First responders found a 60-year-old man who had been struck by a train. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident is not being treated by police as suspicious and the man's family have been informed of his death.

A statement by BTP said a file would be prepared for the coroner.
