A former Selby MP who stood down at the last election has been selected to run for the Keighley seat at the next election.

John Grogan, who served the area for thirteen years as a Labour Party MP, opted not to contest his seat at the 2010 General Election following changes to Parliamentary boundaries.
The changes, intended to give the City of York a second Parliamentarian, had the consequence of moving what was left of the Selby seat deep into safe Conservative territory.
Following his selection, Mr Grogan told the Keighley News, “Over the next 18 months I have two key tasks.
"First, to go out and listen and learn from as many as possible of the rich variety of civic, voluntary, business and trade union organisations in the constituency.
"Second, to convince people from all backgrounds that Labour is on their side, and that we can offer a better future for our area and our nation."
