Barking dogs alert neighbours to village burglary

Police have appealed for information about a burglary in the Whitley area.

The incident happened at a home in Silver Street at around 8 o'clock on Tuesday evening.

Nearby residents alerted police to the incident after hearing their neighbours dogs barking and running loose. 

Thieves gained entry by smashing their way through rear conservatory doors and pulling it off its runners. Once inside, the perpetrators conducted a search of the property, a jewellery box was later found to be missing.
